This is great news!
This is a major development, given that pretty much all blog posts and real-time news
feeds are routed through Technorati. Blogs and URL-based identity are of course made for each other,
and it's great to see Technorati putting their clout behind
OpenID.
There are still those who argue that OpenID and URL-based identity are "toys"
that can't compete with a "real" digital identity system. They might
be right. Just like Detroit was right when it said that Japanese cars were
toys. Or the mainframe guys were right that PCs were toys.
This is beginning to look like the first chapter of a case study on the
Innovator's
Dilemma. Now we just need to get our act together a bit better than we have so
far in the OpenID community — but that's a comparatively easy problem to
solve.
