Anonymous Digital Identities

P.T. Ong makes an important observation that digital identities can be anonymous, and that it is more a reason of historical accident than anything else that today's digital identity systems usually assume they are not. This is an important post; highly recommended.

In LID, anonymous digital identities are actually the default. We assume that users would like to expose as little information about themselves as possible, and so we start with anonymity instead of full exposure as the default. This policy is also consistent with Kim's Laws of Minimal Disclosure and of Fewest Parties (full list here)
