Papadopoulos defines grid computing as:
"the decoupling of applications from specific hardware
platforms"
So according to this, the idea is to create applications independently
of the specific hardware platform (and structure, one might add, such as
how many processors it has?), and grid computing would then "do the right
thing" without the application having to know what that right thing is.
Applying this view of the world to Situational Computing, the Situational
Information Grid could thus be defined as "the decoupling of information
from specific applications that manage it".
That's probably not too far off the mark.
